Sweet Saturday: Strawberry Shortcake

Welcome to Sweet Saturday!!

Today's treat is so easy, so let's get it started.


  • 1 box of white cake mix
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 stick of melted butter
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups of sliced strawberries
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 (8oz) containers of thawed whipped topping
  • Nonstick cooking spray

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Spray 2 8in round cake pans with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large bowl combine cake mix, egg whites, melted butter, vanilla and milk until well blended.
  • Divide cake mix evenly into pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • While cake is baking put sliced strawberries and sugar in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Once cake is baked and cooled completely begin to cover once cake with thawed whipped topping.
  • In the center of the cake spread sugar strawberries evenly leaving about 1in of room from the rim.
  • Place the second cake on top and cover completely with whipped topping.
  • Garnish with strawberries and refrigerate until ready to serve.
